Remote education training offer available for adult learners (19+)
Following the government announcement regarding national lockdown, all of our learning will temporarily take place remotely. As IA delivers from venues within the heart of the community, we must pause all face-to-face learning until restrictions are lifted to ensure the safety of learners and colleagues. Remote education enables us to continue to offer flexible, individual learning programmes for adult learners in a variety of courses suitable for upskilling unemployed or employed individuals.
Our remote learning is delivered through live, tutor facilitated sessions, facilitated by our vocational Trainers through either Microsoft Teams or Zoom, with learners completing work on our virtual learning platform, IA Online. Our staff are on hand to provide support, guidance and feedback. Trainers will ensure learners are on track and making progress with their learning through regular review.
Our courses have been planned carefully to maximise learning within realistic and achievable time frames. Course timetables and delivery patterns for remote education are planned to suit the style of learning and the individual needs of the cohort group.
Expectations of learners
We expect all learners to fully participate in their learning during the lockdown period, this includes the expectation to:
- Attend, engage and participate in all remote learning sessions
- Ensure they remain in contact with their tutors throughout the duration of the course
- Behave appropriately during online sessions
- Submit work by the set deadlines
All resources are provided through our online learning platform, IA online. In exceptional circumstances, we may also be able to provide paper-based learning materials, though we do have a requirement that all learners accessing online course are able to undertake basic IT skills (e.g. downloading, opening, saving and uploading files; accessing the internet and using a web browser etc.)
Assessment and Examination Arrangements
We are working with our awarding organisations to ensure that assessments are conducted in line with all recent government and Ofqual guidance. Due to the ongoing changes in guidance, we will communicate with all learners only if there are updates about their specific exams or assessments.
Support for students to access technology for learning
If access to a suitable device or connectivity is a barrier to enrolling onto one of our online courses, we can work with learners to ensure they have access to the equipment they need to enable them to engage with their programme of learning.
Should learners require specialist equipment or facilities, this can be discussed on an individual basis.
Support for students with SEND
We aim to deliver a high quality of education to all learners, including learners with SEND. Our team can talk to learners about their individual needs and work alongside learners to develop individual support strategies to enable participation and achievement.
Please speak to a member of the team to discuss your individual learning requirements.
